Road safety and injury

It is estimated that nearly 1.2 million people die, and between 20 and 50 million are injured or disabled, as a result of road accidents annually, which in turn places great pressure on health systems globally.

The George Institute focuses on research targeted at identifying ways to reduce the death toll and increase safety on our roads, especially among more vulnerable groups such as children, young and elderly drivers, and Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.
