The Social Value Summit, run by Social Enterprise UK with the support of Business in the Community (BiTC) and Social Value UK, is the leading event on social value in the country. Taking place in February the event brings together commissioners and providers from across the public, private and social sectors. It looks to build cross-sector networks and partnerships, showcase best practice and builds the case for commissioning and procuring for social value.

The Social Value Summit 2018

The fifth Social Value Summit took place on 28th February at the IET in London. The 2018 Social Value Summit was kindly sponsored by Engie, Wates Group and Anthony Collins Solicitors. The key-note speech was delivered by  groundbreaking economist and author Professor Mariana Mazzucato.

As well as covering the leading practice on measurement, frameworks and procurement, the Summit also looked at thefollowing  big challenges and opportunities:

The Social Value Summit 2017

Taking place on 8 February at the IET in London, the fourth Social Value Summit attracted over 300 delegates. The Summit had as its theme how social value is central to building an inclusive economy, the social value of infrastructure and how businesses can make the most of it in terms of productivity, markets and supply chains.

Key note speakers included Mike Barry, Director of Sustainable Business (Plan A) at Marks and Spencer, Amanda Mackenzie CEO of BiTC and Tim Haywood, Group Finance Director and Head of Sustainability of Interserve. They were joined by leading social value practitioners from across local authorities, leading corporates and social enterprises.

Workshops delved into issues such as cross-sector working, the commissioning framework and infrastructure – both in terms of the built environment and people and services.

Throughout the Summit ran the idea that to deliver on inclusive, sustainable growth we need a better form of capitalism.
